WHAT WE DO

Gravity GYROTONIC® is Vancouver’s first and only studio dedicated entirely to the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. We offer personalized training primarily working one to one, and in duos and trios. Our trainers are available to meet you where you are at on your movement journey, whether you are just starting out and curious about how to develop fluid power in your being, you are returning to action post injury or setback or if you are interested in challenging your edge to your fullest capacity! 

Along with serving our wonderful clients, we also facilitate the educational stream of the GYROTONIC® Method. Our in-house Pre-Trainers offer an entry point with the Pre-Training Course to prepare for the subsequent Level 1 Courses we host; the Foundation, Supervised Apprentice Review, right through to Certification Courses in both the Gyrotonic Method and the GYROKINESIS® Method, all with our Networking Master Trainer Dana Gingras. Additionally, we host regular updates for certified trainers to keep their knowledge current for ongoing certification.

WHO WE ARE

2025 - Celebrating 11 years!

We are in our third evolutionary shift as of 2022, having been renamed Gravity Gyrotonic under the direction of Kathleen McDonagh. With this transition we ushered in continuity and expansion of our collective. Joining the original core group of senior trainers; Joelle Arnusch, Monique Tang, and Kathleen McDonagh, we are delighted to welcome our newest trainers, Pimon Martell and Natasha Martina.

We are grateful to our colleagues, Philip Seth who first opened the doors to our space in 2014 as Circule8 and to Cornelius Fischer-Credo who ran the studio as ONDA Intelligent Fitness from 2017-2021. Many thanks to all contributors who have been instrumental in nurturing our hub of community for trainers and clients alike!

THE METHOD

What is the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Exercise Method?

The Gyrotonic Expansion System was created by Juliu Horvath in the 1980’s. It is comprised of two parallel streams of practice; the Gyrotonic method, employing equipment; the mainstay piece being the Pulley Tower Combo along with a variety of specialized pieces, and the Gyrokinesis method, wherein all you need is a stool and a mat.

At Gravity Gyrotonic we have 3 pulley tower combos, a GYROTONER® and a Jumping Stretch Board. Each piece of equipment offers a unique environment that both assists and supports the mover via variable resistance in gaining strength within newfound ranges of motion. Be it the elements of traction, resistance or simple guidance, the equipment offers you the experience of a highly attuned kinesthetic feedback system.

Both methods draw upon the engagement of the full body with particular attention to undulatory movements of the spine in spiral and circular pathways. Movements are flowing and rhythmic across a dynamic range and are always accompanied with specific breath support, unifying deep internal connectivity with expansive opening of the body. The practises access the 3-dimensional capacity of one’s body, while moving within all planes of motion and emphasizing the restoration of fluidity, space, and breath to their rightful home in your body.

At Gravity we share this work with individuals from all backgrounds looking to enhance their physical embodiment with greater mobility and strength, creating resilience in their bodies, and opening to a greater range of kinesthetic expression. Our clients are wide ranging: seniors and students, elite dancers and athletes and everyone in between. In essence, individuals who are interested in reuniting with their body’s inherent capacity to regenerate, deepening into new pathways of connectivity and exploring the fullness of their movement potential.
